Zsa Zsa Gabor Hospitalized After Hearing of Taylor's Death

ZsaZsa Gabor went into hysterics and was rushed to the hospital after learning of her friend Elizabeth Taylor's death on Wednesday, the Daily Mail reports.

The 94-year-old, who has been in ill health, reportedly began screaming "I'm next!" Legendary film star and beauty Elizabeth Taylor had been friends with Gabor for 30 years. Taylor died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being treated there for six weeks.

"Zsa Zsa said: 'Celebrities go in threes and I'm next,'" Frederic Von Anhalt, who is Gabor's husband, told RadarOnline.

Gabor spent five days in the hospital last month, after she fell ill with pneumonia. Taylor visited Gabor during that hospital stay. The meeting was not a happy one, Von Anhalt said.

"It was a tearful reunion and a very sad, tragic goodbye," he told RadarOnline. "Liz sat in her wheelchair beside my wife, who was laying in bed. They both knew it would probably be the last time they’d see each other, and – with Liz’s death today – it was."

The pair were reportedly close friends.

Gabor is a Hungarian-born actress who starred in such 1950s films as "Moulin Rouge" and "Touch of Evil."

Her health began to fail in 2002, when she was injured in a car wreck. In 2005, she suffered from a stroke. In July, she underwent hip-replacement surgery and last month her leg was amputated because of an infection.

Her publicist, John Blanchette, had recently said Gabor's health was improving.

"They did a magnificent job getting her back," he said. "They treated her with an aggressive treatment of antibiotics. The doctors said it was 50-50, but it worked."

Myanmar rocked by powerful earthquake

The northeastern part of Myanmar was hit with a magnitude 6.8 earthquake Thursday night. One woman was reported killed when a roof collapsed in Chiang Rai.

The quake was felt in Bangkok, 480 miles to the south of the epicenter, where buildings reportedly swayed.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was six miles deep and that it is possible that 600,000 people could feel shaking anywhere from strong to violent and that damage could be widespread.

Thai television showed people running into the streets in their pajamas.

Two small aftershocks measuring 4.8 and 5.4 in magnitude followed. There was no tsunami created because the quake was located too far inland.

The quake was comparable in magnitude and depth to last year's Haiti earthquake.

In 2002, at the age of 13, Williams moved from her hometown, Meridian, Mississippi, to Franklin, Tennessee, where she met former band members Josh Farro and Zac Farro in school.[4][5] Shortly after arriving, she began taking vocal lessons with Brett Manning.[6] While still in school, she tried out for a local funk cover band called The Factory where she met Jeremy Davis.[5][7]

Williams was discovered in 2003 by managers Dave Steunebrink and Richard Williams who signed the 14-year-old to a production deal.[8] According to former manager Jeff Hanson in an interview with HitQuarters, at the time she was writing pop songs with top songwriters in Nashville. Williams was introduced to Atlantic Records A&R Tom Storms through Richard's attorneys Jim Zumwalt and Kent Marcus, and then signed to the label by Jason Flom. The label's original plan for their new artist was to make her a solo pop artist but Williams objected to this, saying that she wanted to be part of a band and play alternative music. Atlantic decided to go along with her wishes and she then formed Paramore with Josh Farro, Zac Farro, and Jeremy Davis.[8]

The music of Paramore was originally supposed to come out on Atlantic Records but the label's marketing department decided it would be better for the image of the band to not have them attached to a huge label. They instead released their music through a cooler niche label in Fueled by Ramen.[8]

In 2007, Williams appeared in the music video for "Kiss Me" by New Found Glory.[9]

In the 2007 Kerrang! Readers' Poll she finished second to Evanescence's Amy Lee in the "Sexiest Female" category,[10] going on to win the first place spot for "Sexiest Female" a year later in the 2008 poll,[11] and again in the 2009 poll. She also appears as a playable character in the video game Guitar Hero World Tour.

Williams wrote and recorded the song "Teenagers", which was featured in the soundtrack for the film Jennifer's Body. The band's frontman Josh Franceschi has reportedly expressed a keen interest in collaborating with Hayley after the stage performance. It hasn't been confirmed yet though, if the band is recording their third yet-to-be-untitled with Hayley.

Hey Monday was formed in March 2008 after Cassadee Pope and Mike Gentile's former band Blake broke up. Pope and Gentile wanted to continue playing music and began holding auditions for a new band around their local Florida music scene. Pope and Gentile quickly recruited rhythm guitarist Alex Lipshaw and drummer Elliot James. Soon afterward they enlisted bassist Michael "Jersey" Moriarty and Hey Monday was formed. They were discovered when Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz heard one of their demos while he was in the Crush Management office. Wentz wanted to sign them to his label, Decaydance, but Columbia Records was also interested so the band ended up signing a joint deal with both labels. They recorded their debut album, Hold On Tight, throughout the Summer of 2008 and it released later that Fall on October 7. Soon after their debut album dropped, Hey Monday began touring with the likes of The Academy Is..., We The Kings, The Cab, This Providence, A Rocket To The Moon, and Cash Cash. That following year they supported Fall Out Boy on both their major U.S. and international tours. Their popularity grew and the band went on their first headlining tour with This Providence, The Friday Night Boys, Stereo Skyline, and The Bigger Lights as support. Young country star LeAnn Rimes has demonstrated a mastery of performance as well as huge mass appeal, evidenced by her two Grammy Awards and multiplatinum record sales. While some critics have written off Rimes's style as derivative of earlier country music heroes such as Patsy Cline, and chalked up her popularity to novelty appeal, few have discounted her powerful voice itself.

Born on August 28, 1982, to parents Belinda and Wilbur in Jackson, Mississippi, Rimes was initiated into the performing arts at a surprisingly early age. Having no siblings, she received the lavish affection that parents of only children often afford, and was enrolled in vocal and dance training by the age of two. Whether she was motivated by avid stage parents or by an indelible performing urge, Rimes was singing in pitch when she was 18 months, assuring Belinda and Wilbur to continue nurturing their precocious child's talents. Following the advice of LeAnn's vocal coach, Rimes's parents decided to plunge their daughter into the often hectic world of child talent competitions, and successfully ushered her on the stage by age five. Within a year, Rimes won her first song and dance contest, with her version of "Getting to Know You," and professed to her parents that she wanted performing to be a permanent part of her life.

Eager to realize his daughter's dreams, Wilbur Rimes "sold his truck and his dogs and everything," as LeAnn told USA Today, and left Jackson in 1988 to relocate to Garland, Texas. It was in the Lone Star State that the youthful star-to-be began making rapid inroads to success. Rimes nearly landed the lead role in a sequel to the blockbuster Broadway musical Annie. Persistent, she continued auditioning for stage roles until she was chosen to play Tiny Tim in a Dallas production of A Christmas Carol. After a triumph on the television showcase for aspiring amateurs, Star Search, and a string of appearances on Johnny High's Country Music Revue in Fort Worth, Texas, Rimes began to attract the attention of national talent scouts.

Not even a decade old, Rimes was already a virtual veteran of live performances. She regularly performed an a capella rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" during the opening ceremonies of Dallas Cowboys football games, adding to her local legion of fans. In addition, Rimes and her father embarked on trips around the country to perform over a hundred stage dates per year. Nonetheless, touring and word of mouth could only generate so much attention, and the next logical step in Rimes's career path was to enter the recording studio.

The creation of Rimes's debut album, After All, was a relatively quiet affair. Recorded at an old studio in Clovis, New Mexico for Norman Petty's old independent label Nor Va Jak, After All did not receive the promotional fanfare that accompanies major label debuts. Rimes's father, a salesman by profession, served as the record's producer, and the result was neither slick nor seamless. While the album saw an impressive sales run within Texas, Nor Va Jak could not give After All the push it needed to sweep a national audience. Yet, Rimes and her father were quickly hit by an onslaught of contract offers from major labels to record a second album.

The primary source of record industry hype over Rimes's debut, After All, was largely provoked by that album's cut "Blue," a bittersweet composition that perfectly displayed the range of Rimes's vocal stylings. The song was penned over 30 years prior to its recording, and was originally intended for country legend Patsy Cline, who died tragically before she could perform it. Cline's distinctive, haunting voice had served to influence several generations of singers, many of them outside the realm of country music. For them, Cline stood as a model not only of artistic precision and clarity, but also of resonant emotional expression. In order for the song's author Bill Mack to have given to a newcomer a piece tailored expressly for Cline's style and mastery, Rimes must have evidenced some of the elder singer's attributes. Indeed, some critics have argued that Rimes's talent is only in reproducing Cline's unique sound without offering any innovation, while others have claimed that although technically almost flawless, Rimes's singing is devoid of emotional depth that only a life of experience can provide.

Rimes's father initially turned down "Blue" on the grounds that a sensual lament of love was not appropriate for a young girl's repertoire. "My dad said the song was too old for me," Rimes remembered. "I loved it, though, and I kept bugging him about it. Then I got the idea to put the yodel thing to it." Whether through her yodeled twists or through her youthful freshness, Rimes managed to make "Blue" her own, and whatever the critical verdict, she was on the eve of becoming a national sensation.

In the meantime, Rimes's personal life underwent some changes. With so much public attention imbued upon her as well as the beginnings of a plane-hopping lifestyle, Rimes quickly found herself at odds with the normal routine of a young student. By the time she entered junior high school, classmates in response to her rising fame occasionally harassed Rimes. For sake of convenience, she withdrew from school and continued her education with a tutor. While a private education only helped Rimes excel, it also effectively withdrew her from her peers at a critical age. However, Rimes sees the experience as a positive one. "I don't think I'm giving up a lot, because I'm achieving a lot right now," she told the Los Angeles Times. "I do have a different life and I've grown up in an adult world … I don't mind giving up the prom kind of thing and all that. I really don't think I'm missing out on anything 'cause this is what I want to do."

With this kind of devotion, Rimes began work on her sophomore release, after signing with the Curb label, an outfit known for its roster of country artists. The result was the album Blue, whose title cut was a reworked version from After All, now made available to audiences around the world. The album included "Cattle Call," a duet between Rimes and country great Eddy Arnold, "I'll Get Even With You," another refurbishing from After All, and "Talk To Me," which the then-13-year-old Rimes co-wrote. However, it was still "Blue" itself that turned heads and invaded radio playlists. With no video promotion, the single "Blue" debuted at number 49 on Billboard magazine's country music charts, making Rimes the youngest singer to do so, and the single rapidly peaked in the Top 10. The album Blue fared equally well in sales, and Rimes was instantly country music's hottest property.

Whatever speculations some critics may have made, Rimes was showered with kudos from the music industry. She was nominated for both Single of the Year and the Horizon Award by the Country Music Association (CMA), making her the youngest nominee in CMA's history. More impressively, Rimes earned the Grammy Award for Best Female Vocalist in Country and Western, beating out four other seasoned nominees as the youngest recipient ever to win that award. Slowly, the voices accusing Rimes of being a mere novelty began to subside, if not disappear.

Her third album, You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs, an album of covers of classic songs, came out in 1997. Her fictional debut, Holiday in Your Heart, was also published that year—a short novel cowritten with Tom Carter. This was also the title of the television Christmas special based on the novel that Rimes appeared. Some bad news that year occurred in October, when her parents separated; they divorced in 1999.

Rimes set a new record in 1998 when her song, "How Do I Live," became the longest-running single in Billboard 's Hot 100 Singles chart's history. She released the album, Sittin' on Top of the World, that year. She recorded "Written in the Stars" with Elton John for the stage musical, Aida, and released the album, LeAnn Rimes, in 1999.

Rimes filed a lawsuit on May 2, 2000, in the Dallas County District Court, alleging that her father, Wilbur C. Rimes, and her former manager, Lyle Walker, took more than $7 million from her over five years. The lawsuit claimed the two men charged unreasonable fees and manipulated LeAnn's company for their own financial gain. She was seeking unspecified damages because her attorneys didn't know how much money was gone. Her lawyer said accountants hired by LeAnn's mother to investigate the two men discovered that the pair had received more than $8 million in royalties—$5 million more than did LeAnn. In November of 2000, Rimes filed another lawsuit, this time against her label, Curb Records. She was asking to be released from the contract her parents signed on her behalf when she was 12 years old. Rimes also wanted Curb to turn over the rights to all of her past music and video work, give up publishing interests, and destroy all her recordings now being distributed. A happier occurrence was her acting debut in the film Coyote Ugly, in which her four songs on the soundtrack—written by Diane Warren—signalled a stylistic move away from country music. Her legal battles were resolved in part in December of 2001, when Curb Records agreed to rewrite her contract to meet Rimes's approval. In another courtroom drama—also resolved at that time—her former bodyguard, Robert Lavetta, made a deal with prosecutors, thus avoiding prison time in an extortion case by which Rimes was victimized by Lavetta.

As for the legal feud between Rimes and her father, the two made peace in time for him to attend her February 23, 2002, wedding at Perkins Chapel in Dallas, Texas. Rimes married Dean Sheremet, a dancer whom she met while hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards in May of 2001.

Although 2003 saw the publication of her first children's book Jag by Dutton Books and the release of her Greatest Hits album, Rimes's greater role in the history of country music remains to be written. However, her versatility and longterm creative ambitions may help her escape the dour fate of many other former child stars.

LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland (Reuters) – Lindsey Vonn returned to her familiar role of favorite after snatching the World Cup lead from friend Maria Riesch on Wednesday but the American said she had enjoyed the novelty of being underdog.
Vonn has won the overall World Cup for the last three seasons leaving Riesch in her wake, the German having finished runner-up twice on two of those occasions.
Riesch has enjoyed the upper hand for much of this season, giving the impression she can finally end Vonn's dominance, but after leading by more than 200 points near the end of February she has slipped back into second place.
Vonn finished fourth in Wednesday's downhill with Riesch back in 17th out of the 20 finishers, meaning she moved 27 points clear in the race for the title.
"It has been exciting to be the underdog," said Vonn who has won eight races this season compared to last season's 11.
"Maria has been in the lead since Christmas, I have been chasing and chasing her ever since. It's a position I have never been in before, I enjoy the new challenge.

"I'm proud of myself for coming back into the race in time for the final week.
"I haven't won as many races as last season, I lost two downhills by one tenth of a second and a Super G by one hundredth. But I've been strong in downhill, super combined and Super G all season."
Germany's Riesch appeared relieved to have ceded the lead to her close friend.
"The good point is I'm not having the pressure on my shoulders any more," said Riesch after the race.
Vonn denied that their friendship was under strain because of the closeness of the title fight, although she admitted they were both under pressure at the season's finale.

"Our relationship is the same. We are both under stress at the moment, I think it will be back to normal after this week."

Kristin Chenoweth, a Broadway actress and frequent "Glee" guest star, is set to appear in an ABC pilot based on the novel "Good Christian Bitches."
The story is about a divorced mother and former high school "mean girl," played by Leslie Bibb of "Iron Man" and "Popular" fame, who moves back to her old neighborhood in Dallas. Her old friends, led by Chenoweth's character, a housewife, appear to be hell-bent on ruining her reputation. Spokespeople for Bibbs and Chenoweth confirmed the actresses' participation in the pilot, which is based on a book by Kim Gatlin. A source close to the matter told OnTheRedCarpet.com that the name of the pilot is likely to change as it is still in an early stage of development.
The on-air project was of "Sex and the City" and "Melrose Place" fame, according to Deadline.com. The Parents Television Council, a watchdog group that monitors programs for possible profanity and other things they deem inappropriate for young viewers, said the tentative title of the ABC pilot was "offensive."
"ABC's decision is not only an affront to women, it blatantly attacks the world's largest faith," the group's president Tim Winter said in a statement. "The 'B-word' is toxic and is used to degrade, abuse, harass, bully and humiliate women. And the 'Christian' element only adds insult to injury."
"Unless or until ABC realizes that its decision about 'Good Christian Bitches' was misguided, PTC will use every method at its disposal to turn advertisers and viewers away from a provocative title that compromises respect for both women and Christians in an attempt to draw ratings," Winter added.
ABC had no immediate response to Winters' remarks. The Parents Television Council last year condemned a racy GQ magazine photoshoot featuring three "Glee" cast members as well as the title of the CBS comedy series "$#*! My Dad Says."
Chenoweth had said in January that she was working on a pilot with "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy, telling OnTheRedCarpet.com: "It's really a good idea and it will obviously involve singing and dancing. It'll be geared a little bit more towards older fans, not old people, although I hope old people watch it - that would be me, old people."
The actress' spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com that the Murphy project "doesn't have a set timeline and wasn't planned for this season," but that "it is still a possibility for the future."
Chenoweth originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the Broadway musical "Wicked" and also appeared on the ABC series "Pushing Daisies, which ran between 2007 and 2009. She is set to reprise her role as April Rhodes on "Glee" later this spring.
In April, the gay rights organization GLAAD is set to honor Chenoweth with the Vanguard Award, which is presented to "media professionals who have increased the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community."

The situation at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has reached a strange state of continual deterioration, international security analyst Jim Walsh says. As it gets worse, "The good news is that the bad news isn't quite as bad as it first looked," he says.
By way of example, he points to Tuesday's fire at a spent fuel pond that was successfully put out, but not before releasing a plume of radioactive smoke into the atmosphere. Or the fire at reactor 4, which prompted fears of a ruptured containment vessel, concerns that have since subsided, Walsh says - for now.
"Things are happening and they look very bad in the beginning. Maybe not as bad as it first looked, but the situation is deteriorating."
As the situation develops day by day, comparisons are being drawn to the 1986 Chernobyl explosion, as analysts look for ways to measure the potential scale of damage.
"This is not going to be a Chernobyl," author William Tucker says. "The Soviets didn't have a containment structure on top of their reactor."
Daiichi does - a massive structure of concrete and steel that sits atop its reactors. When the reactors shut down, an emergency system pumped in water to cool the facility's fuel rods. But the system eventually failed, and so did the backup system when the tsunami hit, leading operators to use seawater to cool the fuel rods.
That doesn't make it any harder to determine the gravity of the situation. The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company, has been preaching calm, saying that radioactive leaks can be averted. But the company's track record makes it seem less than forthright, critics say.
"The history of Japan's nuclear industry and the government, that is very closely tied with the industry, is less than glorious in regards to public information and full disclosure, and what is going on now is actually an illustration of that," says Arjun Mahkhijani, president of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research.
In 2002, TEPCO's president and four executives resigned after it was revealed that repair and inspection records had been falsified.
"It was discovered that TEPCO had  covered up incidents of cracking in an important piece of equipment with the reactors' vessels of all its reactors, and as a result, they were forced to close down all 17 reactors," says Philip White of the Citizens Nuclear Information Center.
Then, in 2007, after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake, TEPCO told the public the plant had suffered a minor fire and leak of a gallon's worth of radioactive water. It later turned out the fire had burned for two hours and hundreds of gallons of radioactive water had leaked into the sea.
"There's a pattern that has emerged that TEPCO isn't frank, and deliberately covers up to protect its own interests," White says.
Meanwhile, the focus in the United States has shifted to how Japan's situation bodes for domestic nuclear energy development. Lobbyists are hard at work in Washington to assuage fears that America's nuclear plants - some of which rely on the same backup power for cooling systems that failed in Japan - are unprepared for disasters of similar magnitude.
"We're trying to make sure people understand exactly what's occurring, understand the context in which they're going to be making decisions in the future about the way Congress wants to treat nuclear energy," says Alex Flint, a lobbyist for the Nuclear Energy Institute.
Energy Secretary Steven Chu says America should  continue nuclear power development.
"The (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) has its own schedule and they will be looking very closely at developments in Japan," he said Tuesday. "I think we're in good hands."
